haunted labratory
If you are looking to have a hauntingly ghoulish time and looking to go to both a restaurant and have live entertainment at your table, you are in luck.
A few friends and I decided to hit the West Village location of Jekyll and Hyde in order to avoid the hub bub of the midtown location. To do a recap of the experience would not do justice. Let’s just say that you never know whom or what will join you for dinner.

I took the chance to finally take some downtime and treat myself for my birthday. Instead of jetting off to a resort somewhere, going to the spa last week is as simple as a train ride away.
I have a long history with the spa, so I admit it’ll be tough for me to stay biased. On this recent trip. I went and got the Deep Tissue Massage, which was way overdue according to my therapist. I left lighter and less stressed then when I first entered in.

I know is been a while since we posted to the blog. However, poverty is a topic that is constant. Unfortunately there are people not only worldwide, but within your very city or town that are hungry.
Any typical trip on the subway, you can see at least 1 or 2 people asking more money or food.
Blog Action Day today is bringing poverty to life. In a city, it doesn’t take long to see someone whose hungry. Here in New York, these are a couple of organizations who make sure thousands are fed every day.
Meals on Wheels
God’s Love We Deliver
I’m sure there are more and I will continue to pause and explore this in my other blogs.

The Mermaid Parade is coming to Coney Island this Saturday. Look for costumes galore from the sea, land any everywhere else in between. Lets hope the trains won’t give us too much grief this weekend so that we can enjoy some sea air.

Just in case you don’t by now, IKEA is opening today in New York City by way of Brooklyn. The selection promises to be just as extensive as the Elizabeth store and the delivery fee is better too.
(The store also listed the IRT 2, 3, 4, 5 from Borough Hall. We think that this is too far from the store, but since IKEA did list it and they are providing shuttle bus service, we will list it for consistency’s sake.)

So sugary sweet to look at that it might actually make your teeth twinge, Vivi is the place to go for good bubble tea in Chinatown that won’t hurt your wallet. Their bubble-gum pink store front along with their princess-skull logo vividly stands out on Bayard Street; the small tea and snack shop essentially embodies quirky cuteness. Currently outside the door is a giant Homer Simpson statue, making it equally hard to miss. Once inside, you’re greeted by mannequins of Jack and Sally from Tim Burton’s film “The Nightmare Before Christmas”, who are more often than not adorned with drink specials. Although there isn’t much room for seating and the place can get rather crowded, the staff is very friendly and efficient. Besides traditional milk and flavored bubble teas, they also make slushes. Snackwise, they carry eclectic Asian fare such as puddings, cereal, (spelled serial on the menu), yogurt, jellies, popcorn chicken, fried yam, and thick toast.
More likely than not you’ll want to make a habit out of stopping by here once you discover it, so you’ll want to ask for a VIP card. With every drink you get, you receive a stamp, and after 5 drinks you receive one free drink, and then 20% off all of your drinks after that! I’ve been there several times and have nothing negative comment to say other than to stay away from the Sour Plum flavor. My friend reached the free drink on her card and offered it to me, so on a whim I tried the unfamiliar flavor. It tastes strangely like barbecue sauce. Nevertheless, I highly recommend that any trip to Chinatown include a stop here.

For those of you who saw the movie, how kool was it when Sarah Jessica Parker, as Carrie stepped out of a subway station!
For those of you who didn’t see the movie yet, don’t despair. From the reviews, we can expect for it to be in theatres for at least a good while longer. For those who don’t feel like trekking to the movies you can still get your SATC fix either via your local TV listings or by getting the Sex and the City - The Complete Series (Collector’s Giftset) and make way for a Girls’ Night SATC marathon.

During the memorial Day holiday weekend, a few friends and I walked along Riverside Drive in New York City to take advantage of the gorgeous weather. Along the way, we discovered the Little Red Lighthouse besides the George Washington Bridge. Little did I know, the lighthouse is popular in its own right. Read more about the lighthouse in the book, The Little Red Lighthouse and the Great Gray Bridge: Restored Edition
Or better yet, visit it on a nice clear day by going over the foorbridge at 181st.
